The module “Planning, conducting and evaluating English lessons” (Practical classroom studies)

Heike Wedel

This module consists of three units:
  • preparing for practical training
  • school-based practical training
  • assessing practical training.

These three units have to be completed in the above order. The preparatory phase is given over to practising basic educational processes that allow pupils to acquire knowledge and to learn how to apply skills they have acquired. For their practical training, students generally spend four weeks attached to a school in Berlin, where they observe and conduct individual lessons and gain initial practical experience of teaching English. The follow-up seminar allows students to reflect upon and evaluate the experience gained in schools. The results of all three components of this module will be documented in a portfolio, which constitutes the written part of the examination.
