Welcome to the website of the theater group of the Department of English and American Studies at the HU Berlin!

 

HUbbub features students from the Department of English and American Studies (and sometimes members of the institute's staff) and is directed and organized by Dr. Stefana Ehlert, who also teaches in the "Sprachpraxis" section of our department. Every winter term we practice and perform a new thrilling play in January in front of 500 theater guests in Berlin. The good thing is that the theater group is also an actual class for all of the programs in our department for which you can receive credit points.

 

New students with all kinds of skills and talents are always welcome! Watch for the course announcement in the schedule of each winter term. You can either be part of the cast and try out your acting abilities, or join the crew to help with the props, costumes, sets, and everything else that is needed for a theater performance. Whether you are part of the cast or the crew, it will be lots of fun, and you will improve your English and learn many different things that might help you for your further careers.

 

So far, we have put on thirteen funny, dramatic, and always entertaining English-language performances, but there are definitely more to come. Here is a list of our previous plays:
