Charlotte Alex is a Joint PhD candidate at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and King’s College London and a Research Associate at the Department of English and American Studies at HU Berlin. Her PhD dissertation looks at literary negotiations of care in English fiction written during the premiership of Margaret Thatcher. Arguing that during this period, the issue of care became a crucial site for ideological tension within different discursive formations, she looks at how economic modes of care become visible within writing and publishing practices. Charlotte studied in Berlin, Paris, and Zurich and holds a B.A. in English from the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and an M.A. in Comparative Literature from the Freie Universität Berlin.
