Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

Welcome Aleksandra Boss & Anne Potjans

We are happy to welcome Aleksandra Boss and Anne Potjans to the institute of American Studies.

Aleksandra Boss conferred both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in American Studies at Humboldt-University with theses that deal with the literature of Transcendentalism. Staying true to this academic interest, she currently works on her PhD thesis, in which she examines representations of democracy in the works of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Thomas Paine. Among her interests and fields of research are also the literatures of self-improvement and New Thought as well as the interaction between religion and nation building in American literature.
