Since the year 2000, I’ve been a Lektorin für besondere Aufgaben here at the Humboldt University, initially teaching students in English and American studies in the Hauptstudium, and now in the MA programs, including MA Education. As a result of my involvement with Teacher Training programs in Massachusetts and Minnesota, I’ve been particularly interested in proficiency-oriented language instruction, including the development and use of effective writing instruction. Other interests include drama in the classroom, the use of creative writing in language instruction, and American politics.

Hubbub

Pronunciation: 'hƏ-"bƏb
 Function: noun
Etymology: perhaps of Irish origin; akin to Scottish Gaelic ub ub, interjection of contempt
 1 : NOISE, UPROAR
 2 : CONFUSION, TURMOIL
3 : THE ENGLISH THEATRE GROUP OF HUMBOLDT UNIVERSITY, BERLIN

I’m also the director of Hubbub, the institute’s English-language theater group. We’ve put on seven performances so far featuring students (and occasionally faculty) from our institute
